LookRange is a presentation interval
Camera movement changes a face’s two-dimensional representation while the person remains the same. LookRange summarizes the supported band of presentation across valid, ordinary conditions.
It is not the worst photo to the best photo
Outliers, invalid frames, extreme lenses, and unusual expressions should not define the interval. The range should resist bad evidence and avoid stretching to every observed result.
A simple average would hide disagreement and say nothing about spread. LookRange keeps the interval and its evidence support visible.
Score-contract stress test · synthetic input. The artificial low value tests outlier handling only; it is not a photograph, participant result, or population claim.
A raw minimum/maximum would let one artificial outlier dominate.
The frozen engine bounds the interval to at most 22 points.
Multiple views show how strongly the evidence agrees
A front view and two controlled 45-degree views provide different projections of the same face. Agreement across them can support more stable observations; disagreement should widen uncertainty.
Confidence reflects view validity, photo quality, and cross-view consistency. A lower value means the result needs a weaker interpretation or a better photo, not that the person received a low appearance score.

It is intended to estimate how presentation varies across normal, valid photo conditions and to explain the evidence behind that interval.
Is LookRange my lowest and highest photo score?
No. Extreme or invalid images do not set the range. The Beta interval uses bounded robust estimates rather than a raw minimum and maximum.
What does low confidence mean?
It means the evidence supports a weaker claim rather than a low appearance result.
